Sambat Adhikari is a guitarist/composer and music educator from Dharan, Nepal based in Delhi. His first foray into learning an instrument came very early when he started to play around with his father’s guitar and keyboard. At 10 years of age he trained in Hindustani Classical Music under Raj Kumar Shrestha, before switching to guitar. He played in various bands throughout his teens, and participated in numerous talent shows and band competitions.
Having played in groups ranging from Rock, Jazz, Fusion, Latin, Funk, Metal and Nepalese folk, he has found his voice in the jazz idiom and continues to explore these styles in his compositions. The core of his sound is improvisation and spontaneity fused with deep sense of harmony, ambience and complex rhythms. He’s studied performance at Global Music Institute, Delhi where he completed 2-years Diploma and was awarded the highest scholarship ever given at the time. Currently he performs and records with his trio.
