Almost every weekend, you can find yourself cozily sitting in One World’s performance room, to attend workshops or to watch people perform. The InHouse brew felt like a combination of both.
It was a unique experience to watch Rahul, Reuben and Jigmee have an open rehearsal, with staff and students alike assuming the role of audience members.
The event had an intimacy between the performers and the viewers, with frequent back and forth between both parties in between songs.
At some point, every musician wishes, while listening to a song, to be able to ask the composer their thought process or how they did something in particular, and this was the perfect oppurtunity to fulfil that. Our very helpful faculty/performers went so far as to play one song in two different styles, just to do justice to a question from the audience, which was great. We got to experience the individual personalities of the performers, which always makes the performance even better, in my opinion. It was a lovely Sunday evening with good music and bubbling conversations.
