Chanshim Makunga

Chanshim Makunga is a distinguished soprano with extensive experience in both performance and music education. Based in New Delhi, India, she has honed her craft in Western Classical and Contemporary Voice, alongside proficiency in piano, music theory, conducting, and choral works.

Chanshim’s musical journey began with a Bachelor of Performing Arts in Music from the Nagaland Conservatory of Music, where she majored in Western Classical Voice and minored in Piano. She has also achieved ABRSM Vocal Grade 5 certification and has been an active member of prestigious ensembles such as the Nagaland Singing Ambassador and the Delhi Chamber Choir.


Her performance repertoire is impressive, featuring notable appearances at events like the MTV India Music Summit in Jaipur (2018), the India Music Summit in New Delhi (2019), and as a guest performer on Manipur’s Got Talent (2022). She has also graced the stage at the ‘Bapu Smaran’ festival organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands (2018) and delivered solo classical voice recitals at venues such as Imphal Hotel, Manipur, and Northern Light Campus, Dimapur (2019). In 2023, she performed Karl Jenkins’ “Requiem” with the Symphony Orchestra of India under the baton of conductor Marat Bisengaliev at NCPA Mumbai.

In addition to her performance career, Chanshim has dedicated herself to music education. She is currently a music teacher at Mount Carmel School in Dwarka and One World College of Music in Gurgaon. She has also offered private lessons for four years and online lessons for two years, and served as a choral instructor for three years, sharing her expertise and passion for music with aspiring singers.

Chanshim is a former member of the Delhi Chamber Choir and is currently a member of the Ao Naga Choir. She continues to evolve as an artist, constantly seeking new opportunities to perform and teach, while contributing to the rich tapestry of the global music community.
