12-Week Drums Course Highlight
- Weekly private lessons based on a system of one-on-one mentorship with skilled and experienced teachers.
- A range of styles covered: Samba, Blues, Rock, Pop, Funk, Jazz, R&B, Afro-cuban and more.
- Work on groove, independence, syncopation, orchestration, odd-times, cross-rhythms, Polyrhythms and much more. Also dive into your favourite music and learn to play your favourite songs by your favourite drummers.
- Developing technique:
- Understanding rhythmic structures and measures
- Styles, dynamics and limb independence
- Counting and Keeping time
- Stick control
- Efficient body control
- Effective hand and foot coordination
- Reading Music notation for drums and percussion.
- Reading Charts and melody
- Improvisation: using the theory and techniques you’ve learned to be able to compose and improvise your own style-specific and contextual parts.
- Practical playing experience. Ensemble sessions once a week provide the necessary practical training in playing your instrument.
- Graded Music Exams AFQL approved, grade exams are facilitated from all distinguished boards.
- Learn how to develop your MUSICALITY and your overall approach to music in general, in a carefully structured and wholistic manner.
