IN HOUSE BREW
Almost every weekend, you can find yourself cozily sitting in One World’s performance room, to attend workshops or to watch people perform. The InHouse brew felt like a combination of both.It was a unique experience to watch Rahul, Reuben and Jigmee have an open rehearsal, with staff and students alike assuming the role of audience members.
The event had an intimacy between the performers and the viewers, with frequent back and forth between both parties in between songs.
At some point, every musician wishes, while listening to a song, to be able to ask the composer their thought process or how they did something in particular, and this was the perfect oppurtunity to fulfil that. Our very helpful faculty/performers went so far as to play one song in two different styles, just to do justice to a question from the audience, which was great. We got to experience the individual personalities of the performers, which always makes the performance even better, in my opinion. It was a lovely Sunday evening with good music and bubbling conversations.

Musical tete a tete
times of lockdown in 2020. The charged atmosphere at One World with students, parents and teachers singing ,discussing music in the classrooms and corridoors was being missed by all.
It was to keep this spirit of music, performance , camraderie and inspiration going that we are curating live interactions between students, seniors and juniors, teachers and students, fellow artists and musicians to get some music, fun and conversations going . This sure makes us feel part of a unit again.
Courtyard Performance
Our Terrace Jam has taken the shape of Courtyard performance with the vibe of the season. The whole college students , teachers and staff come toegther to set up a sound check, play and perform. The vibe is much loved & appreciated by all .Performances
Performances are an intrinsic part of the learning at One World. They help motivate students to practice their art so that it evolves and grows. By putting it out on stage, students are showcasing their ideas, creativity and forms of expression, showing the audience a small part of who they are and in the process building confidence.Inhouse Concerts
One World encourages in house concerts for a multitude of reasons. Our students need to execute their ideas in the best way possible and be critiqued and appreciated. In order to do that, students have to be prepared and trained in the art of performing. We first work on cultivating their art internally so they are able to get to a point where they can deliver a remarkable performance and be appreciated by people outside the school. In house performances are also an important gauge of a student’s ability to move on to larger platforms. Once a student is ready, we focus on building their repertoire and expressing their individuality. This helps committed and hardworking students develop outstanding performances.Zoom Spotlight
Lockdown period in 2020 was a time to discover and adapt to online learning of Music. Our teachers and students with support of their parents overcame all challenges of technology and other to bring out their best output. For music students ,these days when they had the physical space and time to practise and perfect their music turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The recordings and recitals from this period will blow you away. It's true that some aspects get mastered only when we are not in a hurry.
Open Rehearsals
EVENT : Songwriting Open Session with LilaNoor EnsembleDATE : Friday 7th Feb 2020
ARTISTS: Harmonie Deschamps Bhanu Sharma Chayan Adhikari Avik Roy A magnificent stage production and an insight into songwriting , inspiration and subjectivity.
The lilanoor ensemble presented an amalgamation of folktales filled with nostalgia of our childhood , stories that brought to light the morals that were once taught to us to remember forever.
The melodies that accompanied the folktales added gravitas to the production which gave an insight about how songs can be written , how it doesn’t always have to be an original and that inspiration can be taken from anything , be it a poem or an object placed infront of you , anything that rows your boat can be your first step into the world of songwriting. The lilanoor ensemble took inspiration from the words written by the great Shri Rabindranath Tagore , they gave melody to his surreal words , making it an experience for the learners.
The musical story telling show left everyone awestruck . It was an hour of experiential learning, theatrics , giggles, soothing harmonies and brilliant story telling. The songwriting workshop was a housefull , from students of age 8 to 18. The session allowed students to surpass their inhibitions and take a step forward to capturing their experiences and feelings in a song . The session validated all those who would freeze at times , when they tried to write words or form tunes, allowing them to feel at ease with their creative process , educating them about the important role patience has to play ! The whole concept was woven into a perfect tapestry of imagination , thinking beyond your belief system , folklore from India and Europe , making the whole experience ethereal.
The interactive session allowed the students to share where they’ve reached in terms of their songwriting and how it can be carried forward . We are very grateful to Bhanu sir , Harmonie maam , Chayan sir and Avik sir for giving us a glimpse into what we are capable of creating ! ‘Buried treasures ‘ by the lilanoor ensemble took my breath away ! Put it on your list folks !
